Postdoc Position: Electrophysiology of Brain Organoids

Position

Join our interdisciplinary research team at the forefront of neurotechnology innovation! We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to delve into the electrophysiology of brain organoids. This exciting project focuses on integrating in vitro soft bioelectronics, brain organoids, and neuromechanics.  The project aims to explore the response of brain organoids under various physiological conditions and a range of mechanical insults. By integrating cutting-edge bioelectronics and mechanical analysis techniques, we seek to understand how mechanical forces influence neuronal function, and connectivity within these miniaturized brain models. This research could help deciphering consequences of mechanical brain injuries.

The project is supported by an SNSF MINT grant. The candidate will join a team of researchers from the LSBI who are developing innovative soft microelectrode arrays for in vitro organoid models. This role offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and valuable exchanges with colleagues from the NeuroNA Human Cellular Neuroscience Platform at Campus Biotech.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and optimize cell culture techniques specific to brain organoid research and MEA recordings.

- Conduct advanced electrophysiological recordings and analyses on brain organoids.

- Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects combining bioelectronics, organoids and neuromechanics.

Qualifications & Profile

- PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.

- Strong background in electrophysiology, cell culture, and/or organoid research.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Experienced in cross-disciplinary research and team projects is a plus.

- Track record in peer-reviewed publications and participation to international conferences.

- Excellent spoken and written English.

- A team-player, self-motivated, creative and enthusiastic about team projects; excellent communication skills.
