Postdoc Position in Neurotechnology for Optogenetics
Position
We are seeking two Postdoctoral Researchers to work on two innovative projects focused on optogenetic neuromodulation of the peripheral nerve and spinal cord.
The projects offer a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in implantable neurotechnology, behavioral research, and electrophysiology, with significant translational potential in the treatment of common side-effects of spinal cord injury. The projects are embedded into a collaborative multidisciplinary consortium that encompasses neuroengineering, microfabrication, neuroscience, and translation.
The candidates will join a team of researchers from the LSBI developing innovative soft miniaturized neural implants, and will work closely with the collaborators in Campus Biotech Geneva and at the University of Fribourg, to design and conduct in vivo evaluation of neuroprosthetic technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and cleanroom fabrication of soft, implantable recording and optogenetic neuromodulation devices.
- Design and assist in the implementation of in vivo tests for electrophysiological evaluation of the implantable devices.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure correct and timely implementation of the project objectives.
- Disseminate results through the appropriate scientific and communication channels.
Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical- or Neural- Engineering, or related field.
- Strong background in microfabrication and assembly technology for soft implantable devices.
- Experience in electrophysiology, neuromodulation and/or behavioral research.
- Excellent communication skills (English) within project teams that cross disciplines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Track record in peer-reviewed publications and participation to international conferences
We offer
- An opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in Neurotechnology Research within a world-class community of engineers, neuroscientists and medical doctors.
- A dynamic, multidisciplinary, international and collaborative working environment based at EPFL Campus Biotech in Geneva.
- EPFL is an international and world-class engineering institution that hosts state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities, a rich and vibrant scientific and entrepreneurial community.
