Postdoctoral Fellow Position for Predictive Processing in Neural circuits
Mission
The research focus of the M-Lab of Adaptive Intelligence is on merging artificial intelligence & neuroscience. We aim to understand the mechanisms underlying adaptive sensorimotor behavior in intelligence systems, aka “adaptive intelligence”, and develop new machine learning methods that enable us to do so.
We are looking for a Postdoc to support our research in studying predictive processes in neural circuits, especially sensorimotor. You will be part of the team led by Professor Mackenzie Weygandt Mathis at the EPFL M-Lab of Adaptive Intelligence (https://www.mackenziemathislab.org/ ), Geneva, Switzerland.
As part of this job, the Postdoc will:
- Work and collaborate on research projects. The precise research topic(s) will be discussed by the Professor with the successful candidate depending on their background, expertise and affinities.
- Analysis and publication of results.
- Build a strong network in the field of research.
- Participate in education, and PhD and Master student supervision.

Requirements:
- Candidates minimally should have a Master’s degree in Neuroscience, and PhD in Neuroscience in the field of predictive mechanisms and/or sensory information processing is preferred.
- Candidates with a PhD must be from Switzerland or the EU, candidates with a Master’s degree can apply worldwide.
- Work is onsite at Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and proven record of effective communication, both written and verbal, with scientists is required.
Profile
- 2+ years of experience in the field of predictive mechanisms of sensory information processing, and cerebral cortex processing; neuroimaging and neural computation techniques are preferred.
- 2+ years of professional research experience with behavioural experiments in freely-moving animals and/or humans.
- 2+ years of professional experience with Python and Machine Learning.
- Publication record (relative to the candidate’s career stage). A record of experience working with scientists and other research engineers. Independent, creative, and solution-oriented.
- Good team spirit.
