About us
The Public Affairs Unit supports the President in the national positioning and engagement of EPFL. It contributes to EPFL’s development and helps promoting the institution across Switzerland. It is also closely involved in all policy-related issues, including initiatives that are being developed on associated EPFL campuses.
Mission
As an Analyst for Public Affairs, you will support the Director of Public Affairs in contributing to EPFL’s promotion and work closely with a large variety of EPFL units and external stakeholders, analyzing the needs and deliver in-depth analysis for strategic projects.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Provide background information and draft/write memos for the President and the Director of Public Affairs
- Conduct in-depth analysis on risks and opportunities of strategic and complex projects, including political evaluations
- Monitor and analyze federal and cantonal political objects in the Education Research and Innovation (ERI) domain directly or indirectly affecting EPFL activities and missions
- Coordinate different actors across EPFL for a coherent representation of the needs for engagement with national and cantonal political actors
- Support the Director of Public Affairs for the coordination of contacts with the associated campuses and the cantons, advise on strategic collaborations for EPFL and implement projects
- Organize, realize and follow up on visits of national delegations to EPFL, in collaboration with other EPFL units
- Build up and maintain the CRM of the unit, in close collaboration with International Affairs and the Presidency
Profile
University degree Master level or PhD and at least 3 years of professional experience in project management
Professional experience in public affairs and in-depth knowledge of Swiss (federal and cantonal) institutions and political landscape
Understanding of institutional processes related to higher education, research and innovation politics
Excellent written and oral communication skills in French, English and good knowledge of German
Excellent analytical skills
Proven ability to work autonomously as well as in a team and with a strong sense of service to the institution
Ability to interact and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders, both inside and outside EPFL
Ability to conceptualize and synthesize
