Cultural Mediator
Mission
At the heart of EPFL Campus in Lausanne, the EPFL Pavilions is a world class art and science exhibition venue. Its exhibitions combine art with scientific knowledge on society thematics. They convey a contemporary and experimental approach to museology, using innovative technologies to create immersive and interactive experiences. EPFL Pavilions curates and produces one major exhibition per year, as well as smaller exhibitions and various programmes including symposia throughout the year.
Under the supervision of the Exhibitions and Programmes Manager, the Cultural mediator is in charge of coordinating and ensure guided tours adapted to our various adiences of our exhibitions.
Main duties and responsibilities
Cultural mediation
- Develop and deliver guided tours adapted to the various audiences (schools, families, persons with special needs, VIPs...)
- Propose and implement outreach activities and events linked to the programmes
- Support communication (mainly for school and specific audience offers)
Visit requests and quality
- Manage EPFL Pavilions's general mailbox, reply to all visits requests and keep EPFL Pavilions's visits calendar up to date.
- Coach the docents to deliver high quality visits.
- Document guided tours and activities - Write detailed reports (incl. statistics)
Profile
Experience
- Min. 3 years proven experience in delivering guided tours in a relevant field.
- Experience in an international context is an asset.
Skills
- Education : University degree in a cultural field. Museum mediation and interpretation is preferred
- Ability to deliver guided tour in French and English is mandatory

Work conditions
- This is a temporary position to cover a maternity leave from 15.08.24 to 15.01.24.
- Working days : mainly Tuesday to Friday. Some flexibility (evenings and week-ends) is required for special events.
- On-site work (no remote)
