Engineer position in III-Nitride Epitaxy by MBE

Mission

The EPFL Epitaxy Platform (EPiX) (https://www.epfl.ch/research/facilities/epix/) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate to work on the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) of III-Nitrides (Al, Ga, In-N) aimed for both electronic and optoelectronic device technologies.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) of III-Nitride heterostructures.
  • Contribute to the overall expertise in epitaxy in different material systems, working in synergy with other EPiX team members.
  • Maintenance and repair of the MBE epitaxy equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Ensure and oversee safe operation, use and maintenance of the MBE equipment
  • Manage logistics and purchase of components and consumables necessary for equipment operation.
  • Train students and team members in the use of MBE systems.
  • Perform basic characterizations of fabricated samples using techniques such as XRD, AFM, PL, SEM, Hall effect.

Profile

  • Proven expertise in MBE epitaxy of III-Nitride semiconductors.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration among young engineers.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • A PhD degree is strongly preferred, though candidates with significant practical experience in the field will also be considered.
