Mission

The School of ENAC combines the forces of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences and Engineering to help ensure a sustainable living environment for humanity through the sound and respectful integration of human activities into the biosphere.  

We are looking for a new head of communication whose main missions are to valorize the research findings and highlight their impact and relevance to society, to promote the studies in our different disciplines to attract new students, and to manage internal and external communication.  This requires excellent knowledge in English and in French. 

The head of communication leads a small team. They report to the ENAC Dean and to the board of ENAC, work actively with the Dean’s team and with all the ENAC Faculty members, and interact closely with EPFL's Mediacom office.     

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Design, propose and implement a strategy for the missions above. 
  • Produce and supervise editorial and visual productions. 
  • Manage the ENAC social media accounts. 
  • Analyze the results of communication actions and propose optimization measures. 
  • Ensure the revision and monitoring of ENAC central websites (School, Institutes, Teaching Programs). 
  • Advise and support professors and Dean’s office with digital strategy and presentations.   
  • Organize and promote major events (Research Day, General Assembly…). 
  • Establish and monitor the budget for the communication team's activities. 
  • Coordinate a small team and train apprentices. 

Profile

  • PhD (ideally) or a Master's degree in an ENAC field or other basic sciences and engineering domains. 
  • Bilingual French and English (or at least Proficiency level). 
  • Experience in communications and/or as a science journalist, preferably in an academic context; knowledge of the communications and journalism ecosystem in Switzerland. 
  • Experience in producing content (texts, videos, posts) based on input from diverse units for various media, ranging from print to social networks, with knowledge of tools such as WordPress, InDesign, Premiere Pro or Da Vinci Resolve, Photoshop. 
  • Ability to explain complex topics in layman's terms, with excellent writing skills in English and French. 
  • Ability to manage different tasks and projects simultaneously, in urgent situations, and be responsive. 
  • Team spirit, flexibility, service-oriented attitude, rigorous, proactive, and sense of organization. 
  • Qualification to train apprentices or interest in acquiring it.
