Lead Design Engineer

Mission

We’re hiring an experienced full-stack engineer and design lead to build and maintain the MOOVE platform—a global engine for medical AI evaluation. You’ll lead front-end architecture and visual design across the MOOVE ecosystem, while contributing to full-stack functionality and the broader digital identity of LiGHT.

This role combines hands-on technical work with design leadership. You’ll work closely with clinicians, engineers, and researchers to deliver intuitive, resilient, and visually refined digital tools for medical AI validation.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced front-end features using React (Next.js + TypeScript) and Chakra UI

  • Create consistent, responsive, and accessible UI components with exceptional attention to detail

  • Maintain and evolve visual identity across MOOVE and LiGHT platforms and outputs

  • Support full-stack needs including Firebase integration, FastAPI endpoints, and performance optimization

  • Deploy services via Docker, Firebase Hosting, GitHub Actions, and Kong Gateway

  • Lead visual design and UX for www.jointhemoove.org and www.light-laboratory.org

  • Ensure brand cohesion across logos, slide decks, infographics, and digital content

Uphold code quality, reusability, and CI/CD practices in collaboration with engineers and researchers

Profile

  • Strong front-end engineering skills with React (Next.js), TypeScript, and Chakra UI

  • Experience with Firebase (Firestore, Auth, Functions), FastAPI, and system reliability

  • Command of Git workflows, CI pipelines, and Dockerized deployments

  • Excellence in visual design, layout, color, typography, and accessibility

  • Proficiency with Figma or similar tools for UI systems and responsive web design

  • Commitment to usability in constrained environments (low bandwidth, low literacy)

  • Passion for design as a vehicle for trust, safety, and clarity in clinical tools

  • Ability to communicate technical and visual decisions clearly across disciplines

 


 

Preferred

  • Background in health tech, open-source tools, or humanitarian applications

  • Interest in responsible AI, transparency, and human-centered systems
