The primary mission of the EPIX core facility is to provide EPFL researchers and partners with access to high-performance, customer-oriented scientific equipment and service expertise in epitaxy research. The subsidiary mission is to contribute, through its own research and development activities, to advancing the platform's technology for the benefit of its users and EPFL's reputation, and thus to maintaining recognised and in-demand center of expertise.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Organize and manage the core facility (finance, organization, processes, investments, R&D ...)
- Implement health and safety measures related to all EPiX machines.
- Conduct MOVPE of III-V semiconductors and heterojunctions.
- Contribute to the overall expertise in epitaxy in different material systems, working in synergy with other EPiX team members.
- Supervise the activities of the staff and organize their missions (service, training (especially Master and PhD students), maintenance and research & development projects).
- Prepare and coordinate the installation of the instruments, manage instrument's maintenance and operation.
- Implement the strategy and improvement measures prepared periodically with the Academic Director and the EPIX board.
