Postdoc in Mathematics - Chair of Representation Theory

Mission

The Chair of Representation Theory (headed by Prof. Andrei Negut) at EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) is offering a 3-year postdoctoral position.

Main duties and responsibilities

This position is part of the Swiss National Science Foundation "Shuffle algebra techniques in representation theory, algebraic geometry and mathematical physics" grant. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate on research projects on the representation theory of quantum loop groups (as well as their Yangian and elliptic versions), using shuffle algebra tools and with an eye toward applications to combinatorics, integrable systems, algebraic geometry and categorification. They should also actively contribute to departmental activities, as well as the standard teaching, grading and mentoring duties.

Profile

  •  Candidates should have (or be near completion of) a PhD in mathematics with an excellent research track record. 
  • The PhD defense must occur 24 months or less before the start of the appointment (tentatively summer 2026).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. French is not a requirement.
  • This is a 3-year appointment, subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance at the end of the first year.
