About

The Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization and the Entrepreneurship Education Hub at EPFL invite applications for a full-time Postdoctoral position in Entrepreneurship. Duration is one year, with the possibility of extension for another year upon mutual agreement. Starting date is flexible, latest January 2027.

Research

You will join the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization (ENTC), led by Prof. Marc Gruber, within EPFL's College of Management of Technology. You will have scope to develop your own research agenda and to collaborate with Prof. Gruber and the Chair's researchers on ongoing projects.

 

We welcome young scholars in entrepreneurship, strategy, and technology and innovation management, using quantitative, qualitative or experimental methods. The Chair's research appears in leading journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, the Strategic Management Journal and the Academy of Management Review. Prof. Gruber served as Editor-in-Chief of the Academy of Management Journal from 2023 to 2025. The Chair has a collegial, collaborative environment, and supports postdoctoral researchers toward successful job placement in professorial and academic positions.

Education

You will work closely with Dr. Davide Bavato, head of EPFL’s recently established Entrepreneurship Education Hub.

 

The Hub is developing a structured curriculum of entrepreneurship classes for science and engineering students, helping them to acquire entrepreneurial skills and explore venture creation alongside their studies. You will have the opportunity to actively shape the Hub’s development through course delivery and the design and coordination of educational programs. The position includes teaching responsibility for two courses (one per semester), corresponding to approximately 40 lecture hours per semester.

Profile

  • A Ph.D., completed or close to completion, in entrepreneurship, technology and innovation management, strategy, or a related management field
  • Evidence of rigorous and original research
  • Ability to teach effectively in English to science and engineering students
  • Experience as main instructor is welcome but not required
  • Be motivated to contribute to a collaborative research group and to the development of entrepreneurship education at EPFL
