Postdoctoral researcher in astrophysics

Mission

A on-site, 2-year postdoc position is available at the Laboratory of Astrophysics (LASTRO, https://www.epfl.ch/labs/lastro/) of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in the group of Dr. Yves Revaz. The position is part of a Swiss National
Science Foundation (SNSF) funded project and is  within the broad topics of computational astrophysics, galaxy formation and the nature of dark matter.

Main duties and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to lead innovative simulations using the SWIFT or AREPO codes. The focus will be on investigating the effects of various dark matter models, particularly Fuzzy Dark Matter (FDM), on the properties of dwarf and spiral galaxies.This broad topic will provide ample scope for the researcher to pursue their individual research interests.

Profile

A formal requirement for the position is a PhD in physics/astrophysics
A background in computational astrophysics, simulations and high performance computing would be extremely beneficial.
Working knowledge of English is required.

The successful applicant will join LASTRO which is led by Prof. Jean-Paul Kneib and focuses on research in extragalactic astrophysics and observational cosmology. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Yves Revaz.
