Program Coordinator

Mission

Within the PeaceTech division of the EPFL EssentialTech Center on the Lausanne campus, the Program Coordinator directly contributes to implementing and monitoring the division’s activities. In collaboration with and under the direction of the division head, he/she coordinates various projects — including the development of new initiatives, partnership creation, fundraising, event coordination, and operational monitoring of cross-cutting activities — ensuring that ideas, projects, and resources are aligned with strategic priorities and produce lasting impact.

This role involves close collaboration with the Center team, EPFL laboratories, other academic institutions, and strategic partners to ensure the quality, relevance, and reach of the initiatives. The position requires a person who is autonomous, structured, proactive, and possessing strong team spirit and integrity. The Coordinator should be dynamic, creative, and have an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of generating ideas and turning them into concrete outcomes, thereby strengthening the division’s capacity for action.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and monitoring of projects aligned with the PeaceTech division’s priorities by identifying emerging themes, needs, and approaches in the PeaceTech field.
  • Track the evolution of actors, initiatives, and dynamics in the PeaceTech ecosystem more generally.
  • Promote and structure interdisciplinary collaborations with EPFL and other partner institutions.
  • Ensure operational follow-up of certain division initiatives.
  • Help identify new strategic partners (in Switzerland and internationally), and maintain and expand the existing network.
  • Support the division head in identifying and preparing new funding proposals as well as responding to calls for projects.
  • Coordinate the division’s events: track preparation, execution, and follow-up stages, including partner engagement, logistical aspects, and budget monitoring.
  • Contribute to producing communication materials (for publications, social media, website) to disseminate content related to the division’s activities.

Profile

  • Master’s degree (preferably in a scientific, technological, or related field); a PhD is an asset.
  • Strong experience collaborating with diverse partners (academic, institutional, associative, technical).
  • Marked interest in scientific and technological innovation applied to social impact; knowledge of peace-related topics is an asset.
  • Ability to conduct strategic monitoring and analysis, comfortable identifying and contextualizing emerging trends.
  • Proven experience in project coordination, including event management, ideally in an international context.
  • Proactive, structured, and ethical, with good interpersonal skills in intercultural contexts.
  • Autonomy, initiative, together with a strong ability to work collaboratively and define shared priorities.
  • Creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, with the capacity to transform ideas into concrete achievements.
  • Excellent writing, synthesis, and communication skills, and good proficiency with social media.
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written).
