Program Manager 50%-80%

Mission

The National Centre of Competence in Research “MARVEL: Computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials” (http://nccr-marvel.ch) at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne is looking for a Program Manager (50% – 80%).

The position will be under the supervision of the NCCR Director and in close collaboration with the Scientific Manager, and will be supported by an Administrative Assistant and a Financial Officer dedicated to the Centre.

The program manager will be in charge of the operational management and the communication & education efforts of the NCCR, and will provide some oversight on budget and finance.

Main duties and responsibilities

 

  • Organization of scientific, educational, and management efforts (meetings, conferences, schools, public events), annual review activities.
  • Communication for the NCCR (conceptual work, content for website and newsletters, internal (mainly) and external communication) in close collaboration with the Scientific Manager.
  • Communication between the NCCR, EPFL offices, and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
  • Coordination of NCCR logistics and infrastructure at EPFL.
  • Contribution to the preparation of documents, reports and dissemination material for the NCCR.
  • Overview on budget and finances of the NCCR Office, in close collaboration with the Financial Officer.
  • Management of the moderation efforts of records submitted to the Materials Cloud Archive platform. Maintaining statistics on records, coordinating with technical team.

Profile

 

  • PhD in science and technology
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken French and English
  • Ability and experience of working in a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and capacity to manage complex, multiple tasks
  • Demonstrable familiarity with one or more examples of advanced software (e.g. html, content management systems, LaTeX, SQL, Photoshop, …)
