Regional Strategic Coordinator for the Center for Worldwide Sustainable Construction (CWSC)

About CWSC

The Laboratory of Construction Materials (LMC) under the lead of Professor Scrivener, together with CWSC is seeking a Regional Strategic Coordinator to support development of futur projects that focus on decarbonization across various sectors in Africa.  

CWSC is a global leader in sustainable construction research, policy, and innovation, dedicated to advancing low-carbon, inclusive, and resilient built environments globally. 

Mission

The Regional Strategic Coordinator will lead strategic planning, partnership building, and project coordination across Africa and the broader Global South to support CWSC’s decarbonisation and sustainable construction initiatives. 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Regional Strategy & Partnership Development: Design and implement engagement strategies aligned with CWSC’s mission. Build and maintain strong networks with academic, governmental, industry, and civil society stakeholders.
  • Program & Project Oversight: Manage regional initiatives and implementation projects. Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure high-impact, timely, and measurable outcomes. Monitor and evaluate progress. Collaborate on capacity-building, and technical guidance. Represent CWSC in regional dialogues.
  • Policy & Planning: Analyse regional trends and emerging needs to inform future programming. Translate insights into actionable strategies and policy briefs.

Profile

  1. Preferred academic or professional background in engineering or closely related field.
  2. 3–5 years in sustainability, international development, or infrastructure project management.
  3. Excellent communication skills, including exceptional report writing, proposals development, policy brief writing with an ability to tailor content for technical and non-technical audiences.
  4. In-depth knowledge of construction and sustainability challenges in Africa and the Global South.
  5. Proven ability to lead multi-stakeholder partnerships and initiatives.
  6. Experience with international organizations is a plus.
  7. Fluency in English required; proficiency in French is an asset.
