Senior Advisor to the Presidency
Mission
EPFL is seeking a Senior Advisor to the Presidency to deliver high-level executive assistance, conduct in-depth research, and offer strategic insights on critical initiatives. This position will involve working closely with the General & Support Staff, coordinating efforts across the Office of the Presidency and Vice-presidencies, and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders. The Senior Advisor will organize and manage meetings, ensure follow-up actions are completed, and contribute to the initial phases of presidential projects, acting as the primary liaison for the President on further development efforts.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Providing high-level executive support to the Presidency, this role is pivotal in shaping strategic priorities and advancing the administration’s core political agenda.
- Responsibilities include conducting rigorous research, analyzing complex topics, and ensuring comprehensive follow-through on initiatives of significance to the Presidency.
- Collaborating seamlessly with members of the General & Support Staff, as well as the offices of the President, Provost, and all Vice-Presidencies, the role also requires active coordination with key internal and external stakeholders.
- The position involves not only preparing and facilitating high-level meetings and strategic documents but also managing all follow-up actions and maintaining communication channels with principal stakeholders.
- By contributing to and advising on the initial stages of presidential projects, this role will act as a central contact for the Presidente on emerging development initiatives, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to impactful, forward-looking policy.
Profile
- Doctorate and relevant experience in academic sector
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English and ideally good knowledge of German.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
- Autonomy with high capacity for collaboration and collaborative approach
- Understanding of institutional challenges
- Capacity for synthesis, conceptualization and anticipation
- Strong knowledge of the EPFL academic environment and management of the different levels of interlocutors in these fields
- Good presentation and organization skills
- Understanding of sociology and politics of higher education, as well as political issues related to EPFL.
