IT Support Technician - Neuchâtel

- EPFL’s School of Engineering is now looking for an experienced IT Support Technician to join their IT-team onsite at EPFL’s campus of Neuchâtel.
Main duties and responsibilities
- IT Support: Deliver 1st and 2nd level IT support to onsite and remote users via walk-ins, emails, tickets, and calls, resolving both basic and complex issues.
- Hardware Management: Assist clients in IT equipment purchasing, configure, deploy, and maintain IT equipment (Windows, macOS, Linux) using fleet management tools. Diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
- Unified Communications: Provide support for videoconferencing tools, rooms and events.
- Reprographics: Assist with maintenance of the poster printing plotter.
- IT classroom Support: Set up and troubleshoot IT equipment and applications in IT classrooms.
- Software Support: Install, configure, and troubleshoot applications.
- Network Access: Manage user access and resolve connectivity issues.
- Inventory Support: Support units in maintaining accurate IT equipment inventory
- Process Improvement: Work with internal/external IT teams to enhance support processes & automate tasks.
- Documentation: Actively maintain the IT documentation under the responsibility of the support team.
- Security: Contribute to IT security (enable automated updates, take care of hardware and software life-cycle).
Profile
Required qualifications:
- Proven experience in IT support with a strong customer service approach.
- Proficiency in deploying, managing and troubleshooting Windows, macOS and Linux.
- Experience with IT hardware (laptops, workstations, PC components).
- Experience in scripting (Linux: bash; Windows: batch/powershell).
- Knowledge of fleet / mobile device management tools, AD, LDAP, GPO.
- Experience with AV and videoconferencing tools (e.g., Zoom).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g. IP addressing, firewalls, port openings, VPN).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in programming languages and tools (e.g. Python, git).
- Familiarity with IT support ticket management systems (ServiceNow) and support workflow.
- Knowledge of ITIL or similar industry best practices (incident / change management).
- Experience leading small-to-medium size IT projects.

- Bachelors in Computer Science, CFC or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional IT support experience.

- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Willingness to support events occasionally outside regular hours.
- Fluent in French and English; verbal and written.
