Scientist / Postdoctoral Researcher in electromechanical actuators
Mission
The Integrated Actuators Laboratory (LAI) is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our team in tackling the exciting challenges associated with the fabrication of a smart footwear for the prevention of lower limb amputations in people with diabetes. In collaboration with Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), we are developing next-generation of orthopedic shoe, with clinical trials to evaluate our innovative off-loading technology with the ultimate goal of preventing foot ulcers and amputations. To support this effort, we are looking for a scientist who can contribute to the implementation and the control of our smart insole.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Use machine learning to implement adaptive control
- Support the development of electromechanical actuators
- Design electronics board to supply off-loading shoe
- Run laboratory test to assess efficacy of the system
- Participate actively to clinical tests
- Supervise doctoral students and collaborate closely with medical team
- Manage SNFS project activities and reporting
Profile
- PhD (obtained no earlier than 2022) in microengineering, mechanics, electrical engineering or related fields
- Experience in machine learning is a must
- Strong experimental skills: prototyping, electronics design, test bench development and control
- Motivation for multidisciplinary research and team projects
- Self-motivated, creative and enthusiastic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
